this is perfection in any way, i love it! 7/7
As someone who's also dangerously approaching the completion of 4 decades of life; I'm composing this tribute to the nostalgia that Mario Paint represents inside our hearts (which in this case are mostly the bass).
Even before MIDI, even before my 2-op FM Yamaha keyboard; my first music with any kind of sequencer was made with Mario Paint (and that clunky mouse). It sure was fun. And this four-part melody (one per decade?) attempts to express it:
0:00: The Nostalgia Theme. Let's remember how fun it was to compose beautiful melodies with Mario Paint.
1:13: The Nostalgia Theme morphs into a tropical salsa/samba birthday party. Congratz, Puke!
2:49: We became musical elitists. We had to abandon Mario Paint because it was too childish. We got into fancy stuff like "D Dorian syncopated swing"... wait, this is still Mario Paint. We realize that and the Nostalgia Theme comes back as a swung rhythm.
3:47: Finale. We'll miss you, Mario Paint. We'll miss you, childhood days...
Note: No baby face was stomped by Mario in this song.
