furnace (at least 0.6.3 as far as I know) comes with the 5E01, a slightly modified 2A03 by Euly (selectable not with Ctrl+N (new file) but rather the chip manager)
It's basically 2A03 but:

- There is 4 (unique) duty cycles
- triangle has 3 extra waveforms via duty cycles (no volume tho :[ )
- extra 16 noise pitches
- (D)PCM unmodified :]

is it legal to use this instead of the 2A03 in an entry?

yes, ntrq is a native tracker

you can either do ur entry on ur real famicom or you download an emulator. I use nestopia, but others work too.

for what it's worth i still haven't figured out how saves work with the everdrive and ntrq -- it's not a .sav at least. not sure about other flashcarts, but i would honestly recommend using an emulator unless you already know your way around your flashcart's saving habits and whether you can get a .sav to submit out of it 😅 i use virtuanes if you decide you don't like nestopia

I have been using Mesen on Yuzu's recommendation...in that case just beware the .sav file ends up in the Mesen emulator directory, not the rom directory

Maybe there's a better way, but I've been going to the first pattern and setting the play marker with B+A+START. After that you can use B+START to play from start.

EDIT: also, I made a controls cheatsheet -- mostly for myself, but perhaps others might find it helpful.
(it is not completely comprehensive, a lot of missing controls still)

Wow so many entries :0 I didn't manage to participate in the last format (I didn't finish the song in time). but other than that I really enjoyed participating in this battle. almost all the entries are very good and addictive to listen to, and overall, i am so glad that a place like BOTB exist, there are so many artists here that are so kind and talented. Im looking forward to participate in another battle <3

I'm also glad I could make it on time for at least one format. Those 4 days (from which I have 2 at most) are really asphyxiating, yet the entries are excellent.

I wanted to try FT+, but, despite working whatever free time I had in two days, I couldn't finish the entry at the end. I'll keep it for SCXIV if NSF+ unlocks, while it's still exportable (something I wasn't worried about while composing the entry for FT+). I hope it still exports to NSF when I finish it.

famicom grandprix ruled! anything paced like a more relaxed advent feels great to me; closing out with wide open furnace, then super focused ntrq, then wide open again with ft+ was one hell of a finale. got the nsf+ part of the stream backed up here
and all set to synclisten defle legacy and forward on July 6 hi noon mountain time!

I originally wasn't really planning on entering this one but strangely enough having seeing deflemask round was enough to bring me into the fight :D

I enjoyed pumping out entries the past 2 weeks and am at least fairly happy with what I've come up with...even for deflemask! Looking forward to going through all the entries :)
