aym panning is a thing (the chip itself has stereo leads), but if youre making a song targeting the atari st specifically you should go mono

To those of you who are going to submit a maxymiser sndh as their aym entry, I will render mine on a real ST (probably in about a week when I'm on holiday) so if you would like a hardware render of your entry too hit me up. Some sid and buzzer effects can be totally different on hardware, although most of the time the hardware render is only beefier with more character.

It should work with JAM, I haven't tried but sndh being a ST format I don't see why not. The website even states JAM plays .SAP, I should give that a try as well!

What are your system specifications for your Atari ST computer? (I'm thinking like... CPU speed, machine type, RAM... maybe even the FPU... what I'm planning on doing is using Hatari on my end and just test it out with maxYMiser on (at least roughly) those settings.

Fun, I tried to render my Pokey track on ST and Jam seems to be using the DMA chip alone to emulate the Pokey (2 tracks on the left, 2 tracks on the right), so it would still be a software render, but on ST :) Doesn't sound too good tbh, I might still use it just for fnu, haven't checked how to render a .SAP on PC :)

i think vlc plays back saps. theres also a dedicated player out there called ASAP as well - additionally i know zxtune on android does sap playback (grayscale on train commute ftw) but then you have to find a way to record it :p I cant remember what i did last time, I think i ended up using audacity and wasapi to record a player playing back the song

alternatively you can export a .xex from RMT (if that's what you're using) and record it from altirra/atari800win
