yea alright so.
the old mechanic let you submit the first sample for free and you had to pay for every additional one. the code for this (in the new battle engine) is still getting worked on so for now you can only submit one sample.

anything goes. they don't have to be related to chiptune!

in previous installments of this you cld submit one sample per submission and then pay boons to submit more - functionality might get added later for this since it's currently not working.

Sorry folks. When I initially agreed to this work I thought I had time. Today is the day of my wife and I's wedding celebration. I had no idea that I would be spending all day every day working on this party. And there was the perfect storm of going viral in a video weeks ago and LoBlast get over 200 orders of which I am still about 50 orders behind. So I lost a lot of sleep staying up until 5am many, many nights making and shipping bleeplers after planning a party all day.

It was my intent to program bit periods. People would be able to upload multiple samples and folks could vote on them. A bitpack would be autogenerated and passed to the entry period.

So, best solution I can come up with:
I should have an hour or so tomorrow to vet what will happen when the bit period ends. We'll make a pack out of what we have before the entry period begins. Bits were always meant to have scores in the 1 to 7 range (despite what happens when there's a sample xhb) and I'll give them all some default score.

I made a bitpack based on a conversation between kleeder and myself. Should be good. Hopefully nothing breaks. I've been hanging with familyfor 12+ hopurs and am going to bead. :sweat:

in lack of a better system, we had to make a decision. how are we gonna select the 25 samples for the entry period?
the first idea was to simply use the first 25 submitted samples. this felt too generic though, so we decided on taking the 25 with the most favs instead - only if theres a tie would the submit time come into effect.
originally, people could vote during bit period and at the end, the bits with the highest scores would make it into the pack (and only, if they received at least 10 votes, according to the lyceum)
this time, you had to accumulate some favs instead. this isnt ideal, but the best we could do.

next up, you get 48 hours to remix the provided 25 samples from the bitpack! go wild! we will have almost 2 weeks of voting afterwards. remember, the best scoring entries will be played live at the chipwrecked festival and the overall winner will receive free tickets for next year!

(if there are any anomalies regarding the bits/bit period (for example, voting is open on it rn - but voting on the bits wont do anything now), it will get fixed in the next days and weeks - remix period should work normally)

For what it's worth, most likes doesn't seem too different from first 25, since all the bits that were submitted near the end of the deadline had pretty much no time for people to listen and favorite them, and thus had no chance due to the submitters not realizing it was gonna be determined like that (for example, there is only a single like among the last 10 entries that got submitted, and for all I know that may not have been there when the tally was made).

I understand you were under pressure and without any better options due to circumstances, so I am unable to complain. Just, if something of an event structured like this happens again, it'd probably be a good idea to have a decent amount of time between the bit and entry period in order to give people a chance to listen to everything before the final bitpack is decided. Just my take as someone who has not participated in a 25 Samples 48 Hours styled battle before.

yup I agree, and I also don't feel like I can be too upset given the constrained circumstances... it is what it is. however: I would have preferred to see every entry in the bitpack even though it was more than 25 samples - at least that to me would've been the fairest compromise. speaking purely for myself, I hadn't even heard, much less faved, the vast majority of the entries - I don't usually do much listening until voting is open.

ah well, we're here now. I started something today and hope I can sculpt it into something cool tomorrow!

I think it's worth mentioning that since the sample format entries can be voted upon, even if their scores don't matter, anybody who votes on them is going to have substantially higher INF - the remix entries are only about 1/3rd of the total submissions

the sample entries will be turned into bits soon and wont affect your INF anymore then

yes unfortunately the entry period ended already, you can now only vote on other people's songs. but if this happens again, you're absolutely free to use as many effects as you like, reverb and delay included :D
