Famitracker isn't closed source. Its source is available under the GPL: http://famitracker.com/downloads.php

Currently, the official build is Windows-only due to MFC dependencies, but somebody else is working towards a cross-platform version based on Qt:

If Spring Tracks were a mere major battle, and not a Winter Chip, it would allow for only one format. Imagine the collective wrath and fury that would have smitten puke if this was a famitracker-only compo! The decision to make this a Winter Chip was a wise decision.

@HertzDevil - ppmck is a mml environment, and while I think mml could make for a good battle, Spring Tracks is a tracker based battle.

Also, yes this is not exactly a "Winter Chip" battle. The WC icon comes up for major chip battles because WC was the only chip major (besides Triple Theme Chip). This should be changed to the chipist icon or something to denote it's a "Chipist Battle" and not a "Winter Chip" battle. Same for "Remix" battles, maybe they should be "Mixist Battle". That being said, since most of the Spring Tracks formats are mixist based, I've switched them all over to "Remix".

I think you can use every single feature that mariopants offers in extended mode. The channel select stuff is already supported by the original mariopaint (only for playback, but that's still proper support ;3)
