Suggest formats and bitpacks for BotB Wishlist, a XHB series that will take place between December 1 and December 24, next month. This is to encourage participation in smaller battles during that time period.

Important rule: if you proposed or still plan to propose bitpacks for BotB Advent Calendar 2025, the ones you suggest here must be completely different so that each event is its own thing.

so we're gonna have two advent calendars this year?

this feels like kind of a mean thing to do

an ascii battle would be pretty cool

following what dami said, maybe postponing it to January 1st-24th is a good idea

wow, what a divisive thing to say.

Both events can run concurrently so that different preferences can be respected or even for people who want to join both! In the spirit of Christmas, there should be something for everyone. Nothing mean about it.

advent calendar is a timezone friendly xhb series under the hood of a major battle. i would like to point out that the reason why it is not a series of ohbs anymore, how it was done in 2018 and 2019, is because most people complained that they cant join due to timezone-reasons.

having advent calendar the way it is now is already the outcome of making sure that there is something for everyone and that everyones preference is respected. you can choose if you want to work on your entry for an hour like an ohb, or for two hours like a 2hb or several hours.

just putting this here for context

I just like the dynamic of hanging out with my BotB buddies in chat during XHBs results. I prefer the aspect of battles as a whole done quickly.

The amount of people who wanted your event to become what it currently is was not unanimous. 13 votes vs 10. I figured there would be enough interest for this.

that's a totally understandable preference, but it does feel weird to translate that preference into hosting a competing version of the event - i think the resistance to the idea comes from a place of appreciating advent for what it is and wanting to give it its own moment under the sun. i know you can understand this because i know you dislike when other folks' battles overlap with your own

But this is not a competing version of the event. I apologize if I didn't make that clear. If there are people who pull an OHB-tier entry for Advent like kleeder says then it just means they'd be pulling another OHB-tier entry for an actual OHB.

It's only natural that anything else overlaps with 24HBs because... they are 24HBs. But mere OHBs can't really compete with giant 24HBs. The comparison feels way too disproportional to me.

BotB Advent Calendar is the most overlapping event of all due to its unique nature: people wake up whenever, read the bitpack whenever and then are already dead set on what they'll do for the rest of the day. Nothing can compete with that. Now, if the plan here was to host 24HBs concurrently, then yeah, I would understand.

But yeah, this will only happen if there's community interest. Don't hesitate to suggest away because, again, this is not a competition!

tex while i support your idea of hosting moar battols, just know they will probably boonloss in favor of advent.

also yeah this is kinda weird to be hosting like a second advent, too much for me to handle...

Well, I'm not even hosting them if there isn't enough interest. And if these threads taught me anything is that if initial reactions are naysayist, they'll continue to be 99.99% of the time. So, I don't know how hopeful I am for a turnaround at this point.

I love people who just set the tone of a thread in their favor and leave, unprovoked, with zero explanation.
