XHB polls are a hostist practice mostly for:

• people who want to host battles with less popular formats so that they can gather enough interest before scheduling;

• people who want to host battles with a popular format, but the bitpack itself is too niche. So, you may want to explain what your battle is all about without spoiling the bitpack itself.

Here's how it works:

Create a poll in the #⚔battle_of_the_bits Discord channel that includes: the chosen format in the title and; multiple timeslots the battle can happen (multiple choices recommended).

Then, post here linking to the poll.

Make sure to include the times your battle can happen in your thread post, too. Because if there are people here who want to join, but aren't on Discord, then they can vote in this thread by listing the times they're available.

Now, it is understandable if there are people who vote in the poll and don't show up for the battle because something came up or they changed their mind or whatever. But if it turns out that you voting in the polls and not showing up is a recurring practice, then it is recommended to wait for more voters before beghasting.

But what if someone else beghasts a battle in the most voted timeslot you provided? Either ask the other host if your battle can clash with theirs or host yours in the second most voted timeslot.

Ok!! I hope this is a simple procedure for all involved! A small amount of communication and understanding can make a whole difference.

To start off, I plan to host a mariopantse today. It's a fun and simple enough format to learn. If you're interested, vote in the Discord poll here

or post in this thread with your desired timeslots.

The timeslots are: 12 PM EST, 3:30 PM EST and 7 PM EST.

The poll will close in 4 hours. Depending on the number of voters, I'll schedule the battle after the poll closes.

well judging by the activity in this thread since it was posted, it doesn't seem like people wld rly use it. not even tex posted here again

i feel like adding polls to botb itself would be better, at least for efficiency's sake. never got used to discord's polling system myself and doing it this way seems a bit overly back-and-forth (not to mention the irc-only users wouldn't have a way to do this outside of making their own poll somewhere else), so at least incorporating polls into forum posts would be a plus towards gauging opinion on the site. that, and it's an old school forum staple

or just to make things easier (i cannot open that link as my browser dislikes it), i'd like to vote in threads like we did in Grand Tournament !!!
