some random bugs i've noticed lately... don't mean to dump on you, pukes, but i think it's useful to have a list :) all in the interest of making botb MOHRZ!

1) the palette editor (including changing default palette) is broken as of a week or two ago... says "Javascript required to run" but i haven't changed any settings. tested with chrome, IE8, IE9 on Windoze.

2) favorites are inconsistent. take a look at these two submissions of mine:

for the first, it's shown as a favorite of jthrill, but then does not appear in jthrill's profile under favorites. for the second, it's shown as a favorite for Jangler and Mordekai, but does not show up in the favorites list of either. i'm not sure whether it was really marked a favorite in any of these cases, but at least the two views should agree!

3) trophies aren't working right for big battles anymore (i think you're aware of this one)... this would include the category trophies (e.g. shit in pants) for the last few battles, as well as the format-based trophies (e.g. 8k module, spc, etc.) for summer chip.

4) Mixist\n points still exist; they should be combined with Mixist points. also, at some point the Mixist\n points got added to everyone's total again, so everyone's total is too large by that number of points.

5) not sure if there's really a good way around this, but it seems like aura points are only adjusted based on prior votes. ideally, at the end of a battle (for everyone who voted), everyone's votes would affect everyone else's aura points, regardless of the order in which they voted. if that makes sense. :)

7) allgear / unusual format battles (e.g. sunvox) are filed under chiptunes on a botbr's profile, even though they are mixist battles.

#7 fixed, though i'm thinking now there are too many tabs . . .

in teh futures i'm hoping to build some kind of sleek entry browser with filters which would prolly unite all them entry tabs into a single tab.

i like the new categories :) a couple of things i noticed...

a) looks like pixels are listed under chiptunes, sample OHBs and ascii are listed under mixes... for sample OHBs, should we show that under bits? and for pixels and ascii, maybe want to just omit them from the above (and have them only show up under OHBs), or make another category "others"?

b) i only discovered this because i wanted to link directly to my "Majors" screen from my own website... the link shown for the Majors button (e.g. when you open link in new tab) is http://battleofthebits.com/barracks/Profile/botbr/OHC - but it does the right thing if you left-click, and http://battleofthebits.com/barracks/Profile/botbr/Major works if you type it in (that is, the only error is in the link URL).

#2) the favorite views were inconsistent! the favorites was were borked teh chimpchamp, so now I's fixed them there favs. . ..

one view was showing a favoring of 3 or greater and the other was showing 5 or greater (which are not the same values)

#9 Radio player for listening to all entries in a large battle at once states that a plugin is missing but the botb radio works just fine.

EDIT: This was before the battle had ended. The problem may have been fixed already.

10) the new javascript timer thing fails on IE8... yeah i know, flame away but i use it on some computers :P

But (and PWEEZE) quit adding bugs to this thread. There is a whole forum dedicated to bugs. Each bug should have it's own thread! ;D

so, interestingly, the horizontal "current battles" panel on the botb homepage seems to work 100% properly under IE8 (counts down, doesn't spam the same time over and over). so that could be a good model for comparison i guess.

and, the rounded corners haven't worked in IE8 since i've been on botb i think :P

also note the lack of transparency working in IE8, which probably shouldn't be a shock :P

regarding my prior post, this is fixed, the battle timers seem to work right in IE8 now. :D

also "points get" messages tell you your amounts twice with a "but" prefix even if you arent giving boons or something

Noticed that too. "You got 1 Playa point, but you got 1 Playa point." It's like the system is being edgy and sarcastic. The first time it sounds like a good thing, but then it repeats itself with the "but" like it's also a bad thing. LOL
