i know, you usually participate and earn badges, boons etc to be able to host your own battles.
and this works in 98% of the time and is a great motivation to join ongoing battles.

and yes i know, if someone really has a great battle idea but cant host it, they can either work towards that or ask another botbr who'll host the battle for them.
this works great as well 98% of the time, because its mostly a one-battle-thing and not a big deal.

the reason why i bring this up again is because of the currently ongoing wildchip 4hbs.
the work max has put into this project is massive, but in the end, he's not getting a single point out of it. its because he has to ask puke to host the battle everytime.

but what if theres a special host-badge that can be given and removed in the same way as ailments (maybe a sysop only feature). it would give the botbr unlimited hosting access. they would still need to get the boons, but for big projects, it should be possible to ask other botbrs for help.

some people are great at organizing and managing events but never participate in them. it seems like the page is missing a simple way to support these people.

The merchant could sell "beghast scrolls" for various formats, single use of course

Yes, Max in for sure in the 2% zone here, And elsewhere, I also proposed the "on behalf" hosting (btw the beghast scrolls is a fun idea!)

But, theory wise, if one can ask another to host and get the points, he/she can get a badge without even participate in one battle of the format. In other words, if Max wins a silver allgear badge, even given with an admin tool, that would mean he got 28 allgear track with 20+ score...

So I think Kleeder idea (a positive admin buff?) could solve this problem without messing with the way badge works today.

But if there is no requirements to meet before asking to an admin this buff, admin will have a lot of work answering people ("Hey, I am CastleNes, I did a lot of pixel art but can't host one:" or silly things like this you don't want to see I am sure!). maybe a form, with details like "how long do you need this badge?" and "why should we trust you?".

I rather like the beghast scroll idea, on the one hand you would need enough boons, but then on the other, you could ask someone with said boons for a loan. >:)

Having a badge that can be temporary given, which yields special hosting powers is good too tho, and it means that even pretty fresh botbrs might get to host a 1, 2 or 4hb.
Also, its the simplest of the ideas to implement I think.

I'm into the "begast scroll" idea. I don't think it should jump you straight to a 4hb of any format though. But it would be cool if you could host a certain format in 2hb and the scroll made it available for 4hb OR if you could host any format in 1hb and the scroll made all formats available in 2hb. Something like that. Maybe if you could combine 2 scrolls it would get you to 4hb of any format if you could host all formats in 1hb.

I was thinking on top of the begast scroll idea, prehaps a hostist badge could be implemented which would be a kind of end-all-be-all goal for people like me who'd rather organize and facilitate than participate.

That way I'd pretty much do the whole "investor pitching" thing, buy the scrolls, host the 4HBs with said scrolls until my hostist points (or some other metric) get to a certain point where it would reward me with hostist badge, allow for hosting stuff at will.

Maybe in three levels; bronze, silver and gold for OHB, 2HB and 4HB respectively? That would work well with the combining idea, hosting stuff would also cost less over time, requiring less combined scrolls and all.

Though I don't mind how it is right now. I'm not really doing this for clout.
