i know this was discussed on irc some time ago, but i cant find a proper bug report here on teh site, so im creating one now.

you can upload a mp3 render even if the submission is a mp3.
most people ignore this, some people are submitting the exact same mp3 again.. but in spring trux 9 we also have some entries with totally different mp3's on top of the actual submission - so this is an issue

It's got its benefits; the positive side to it is, we thought that, it was so you could update the file if it had a glitch, when it plays on the BotB player. Unless, is that redundant because you got a, Re-Submit button right? Idk I'm confused. TO me it translated, like render as in, like repair the song? That what render kind of means to me, like, smooth the quality up to professional, like in a 3d graphic going from, polygon to lifelike.

render makes sense as a button for every other of the myriad of formats that are not mp3 or wav. Not eveyone's gonna be bothered to set up a zx spectrum emulator if they want to hear zx beeper entries, for example.

Elyk: on botb, a render should be as close as possible to what the source file sounds like without modifications, but in mp3 format for easy playback, since for various emulated chips not everyone has the hardware/software to play songs back faithfully.

if you want to make a "mastered" or "polished" version of a song that was done on a chiptune engine, you would have to enter that into allgear or wildchip formats, since it wouldn't be an authentic emulated chiptune.

mp3 renders should always match the entry. if you want to change an entry, that's indeed what resubmit is for, but note you can only do that before the battle entry deadline!
