Hey all, I mentioned this to Pedipanol this morning and she seemed to like the idea, but I'd like to gauge general interest in this.

Would anyone be interested in a monquaz style project that uses famitracker (vanilla famitracker) instead of openmpt?

For the uninitiated, let's say ten people participate. We all come up with DPCM samples and instruments and send them all in before the start date, in order to make one "master" ftm file. On the start date, all ten people receive one copy of this master file, and they have a recipient that is unknown to them.

At the end of day one, everyone sends their files in, and they receive a file from the person before them in the loop, while their own file goes to their recipient. Then, on day two, everyone adds on to the new file they received, and then they send that file on.

On day ten (or whatever day number matches the number of participants at the start), everyone will have touched every file, and everyone gets a week to polish up and name their file before sending them all in. Then, we have an awesome album that everybody worked on.

The rules are simple: you can make minor alterations (such as volume adjustments or dynamics, or slight pitch adjustments), but you can't remove someone else's work and you should at least attempt to make any transitions smooth (though this is a gray area). You can, at any time, add channels onto the file. But you can't remove channels if someone else added them. In essence: respect what others have done, but don't be afraid to add your own flavor to it.

If you miss a day, don't sweat it. If no file is received from you, the file that you received will instead be sent to the next in line.

Anyone interested in participating? If there's enough interest (ideally at least six or seven likely participants), I'm thinking February 9th as the start date, and I intend to set up a specific email and website. All experience levels welcome!

FYI, you don't need to make a new site. The Monsquaz site allows you to host your own swaps with ease. ^^ https://swap.monsquaz.org

(and yeah I'm interested)

I was seriously considering doing the February Write an Album Month thing this year; wondering if I'd have the energy for both... 🤔

The idea is fascinating, and I'd love to join. I'm actually not that busy at all during that week, so it's perfect for me. Updates on this would be great, and it seems like it'd be super duper cool to participate in! Definitely coming from the lower end of the experience curve here, but I hope my potential participation isn't too much of a bad thing, haha.
