COP - Sam Coupe(?!?!)

I don't know if there is a tracker for this machine, but I like the name a bunch.

.PTCOP is for a semi-famous XM-like tracker with a piano roll (!) sequencer.
Stereo and mono .SAP should be separated, I imagine that would eliminate the need for any special 400/800 formats since they use the same chip...
Genesis .VGMs aren't being developed at the moment are they? Anyway, there's TurboFM .VGM, which is plose enough. I would make the distinction though anyway, just so people don't think we totally suck at Genesis chiptunes! Also, Master System .VGM, but I figured you were including that anyway.
.AY is a must! Spectrum and Atari ST format.
.HES for TurboGrafx...is there anything out there to make these?

I think there is an MML for making Husic on TurboGrafx16

What is TurboFM?

TurboFM is what TFM Maker makes VGMs for, it's pretty much the exact same as the Genesis but minus the PCM and PSG capabilities. Apparently it's some sort of add-on to the ZX Spectrum or something...
So in other words, 6 channels of 4 operator sine-based FM.

TurboFM is basically 2xYM2203 sound chips. (="hack")

According to the author it can also use Yamaha's OPN-compatible sound chips (Megadrive, Neo Geo, NEC PC-98...). I've done a few test tracks with TFM, only using the YM2203s though.

edit:

Oh yeah.. And if TFM is allowed, can I also use turbo sound? (dual-AY = also 6 chans)? ;) (ok... I almost know the answer already.. same debate as with stereo SAP)

If we're doing MIDI, why not toss in XG MIDI as well!
Also, lolwuthax! I was under the impression TurboFM worked like NES expansion carts, you plugged it into the back or something...
I'm very curious now, just how does one go about installing TurboFM?

Wow -- data overload over here =O

I need to be able to focus more on making the different chip formats work modularly with BotB. I don't really feel like doing all the research on each one. I guess I should figure out exactly what info I need specifically and let you boys loose for some hackist points or something....

PixelTone/PistonCollage -- I've used this before and had a good time with it. One thing I remember reading about is that files get bloated fast (but don't know from experience). We'd need a filesize limitation.

XG MIDI - huh wha-?!?! How many Yamaha cards are we gonna support? I guess I am more concerned with different micros than anything -- and I know that means several different FM synth chips/cards. Next thing ppls will be asking for GUS. Should we be considering that too?

I want everyone to be happy. I want to include all the audio chips from ppls gaming experiences (and I guess classic demo sc3n3 as well). But I also don't want to have a bunch of formats with 2 or less entries (for example that Amiga .AHX format which has a delicious sound).

I don't even know what I;m trying to say at this point LOL

XG may perhaps be a bit too much...I don't want to get into the debate as to whether regular MIDI could even be considered chiptune, but then again is this even meant to be a chiptune-exclusive site?
I think every sound chip should be given an opportunity so long as people are willing to write for it. That said, I think some of the PCM options could be more clumped together. For example, 12K Amiga MOD + AHX and 24K S3XMODIT + SPC. I just don't see the point in having so many options for the PCM stuff when the resulting sound is going to be pretty much the same.
If TurboFM is really a hack, as in you have to horribly mutilate your Spectrum to install the chips, then I support it like I'd support stereo SAP: separated from the non-hack options.
Just my 2 cents anyway. :D

stereo sap is hackzord!!.... jajaj naahhh i'm just joking... well i dont know much about thoses formats and whats the sound of.... but... i think if we have many formats will be a wasting of time or something... maybe put format into the same categories, like kulor said... 12k amiga mod + ahx and 24k s3xmodit?.... and somethign like that.. i dont know if is that what you wating for baron :O... maybe 12 formats are enought to the competition?... maybe 14 or 20?... but as B-knox said... there are to many formats and less ppl? :O maybe... i just know something... i will have fun and all n00bz!...

WC3 is right around the corner!! Time to give this thread a *bump*!! :D

I've decided I want to include a *WildCard* console. So many chiptune artists are combining consoles with other consoles or live instrumentation. It's a shame to completely exclude them. Plus I think it will make the whole compo more interesting.

re TG16:
there is HuGo, I think it is the only way to make your own HES files, it follows the mml route, and I think it will take me 10 years to be able to mml, but here are the links for the starter pack:
Win:http://kuraxsp.hp.infoseek.co.jp/files/husic026win.zip
Mac:http://kuraxsp.hp.infoseek.co.jp/files/husic026osx.zip

re TFM:
the TFM Maker tracker does allows VGM export, but it's not really Megadrive/Genesis... I don't know what it is really.
Warlord: when you said this,: "According to the author it can also use Yamaha's OPN-compatible sound chips (Megadrive, Neo Geo, NEC PC-98...)." do you think the author meant that the final tracks can be heard through a Genesis, or that it is possible to modify the tracker to allow PCM PSG controls? I would be really interested to know, I have also made a few tests, but I am not getting the results I wanted.

Last of all, Kami68k posted a link to a sound drivercalled GEMS, which he said "was running in quite a lot of Genesis Games" (back then)
I checked it out and it seems to be quite cool, you have to connect a Megadrive/Genesis + TV to your computer in order to code (if i understodd correctly).
I've decided I want to include a *WildCard* console.
Is it allowed to combine them with other technical device (like samplers etc.)?

if yes, it could be interessting if people write down which instruments are used (e.g. Sampler, FX-Device, SID etc..)

thanx lpower -- i'll look into that stuff soon

Rio -- yeah, people add all kinds of things to chipsounds. I'll put in the rules for the WildCard entries that what they used should be in their description. I figure if it is too far from being actual chipmusic people will vote them down...

Does anyone know of a tracker which emulates the HuCard(.hes)? I am no good at mml...no good at all.
I am experimenting with Open ModPlug Tracker and TG16 samples at the moment, but I feel a bit like a cheat to tell you the truth...

Quick! Add Atari 2600!!
http://qotile.net/sequencer.html
Or is nobody MAN ENOUGH to do a 2600 tunezz?!?!

EDIT: And if you wanted an even number of formats, you could always add ZX Spectrum .AY (not the FM haxx0r one)/Atari ST .YM as well, they're pretty much the same chip so you'd only need one.
