This is a bit of an odd thread but it could be cool! We often talk about things we’re good at or improved upon, because the more we compose music, the better we get at it! Which is usually the case for most aspects of the process, but I do think there are some exceptions, things you used to be better at.
I think one thing I used to be better at, when I first started writing music, I was a lot better then at coming up with ideas than I am now. I think as I improved in my music, my personal “standard” for good ideas has become narrower and narrower. Sometimes I wish I could go back to creating whatever was on my mind and not thinking to much about it, even though I know I’d probably say “this is lame,” and then scrap it entirely. I also think I used to be a faster writer, now I’m slower.
