I managed to make a song by using Bingies24's binaries of Wavetracker! However, doing anything related to samples made the app crash, ie:
- you can't import samples
- you can't render your song from WaveTracker
I read on the WaveTracker website that is uses the audio library called NAudio, however I'm afraid it's a very Windows thing for now.
So if anyone is interested, the app is clearly usable on Linux but (unless it's only a problem on my system) it seems you can't use samples.
Instead of waiting for a Linux port of NAudio, I guess the easiest option would be to have WaveTracker working with Wine. I had a graphic bug that made the window stay blue after I launch the app with Wine, as if the UI wasn't being drawn. However I got sound while pressing keys and it seems that beside this graphic issue, the app is working well!
