DAW: REAPER
TRACKERS: OpenMPT, FamiTracker, Furnace
I'm afraid I cannot output most tracker based formats, due to the fact that I am used to usage of MIDI, combined with VSTs that emulate hardware (Eg. Plogue's VSTs, a VSTi conversion of Munt, and even a Prophet VS emulator). This is also partly due to the fact I struggle to use trackers. I do apologise for the inconvenience.
Overall, I'm pretty shit at composition, but I'm not terrible at sound design.

trackers are not that hard to use - once you can get comfortable with one of them, you will almost get the same on almost all of them, since they are mostly similar each other --- and you also might want to try interoperating between them and your favourite daws, meaning, saving a midi file, then opening it from openmpt, then saving as .mod and opening this on furnace tracker and so on --- i actually think that the key on using whatever software is interoperation, since none of them are fully featured enough for our needs (at least imho)

That's about all the composition I can do, I just collapse when it comes to melodies.
The usage of OpenMPT as a converter could work, however, and I am quite fond of Furnace's sheer amount of sound chips.

while i'd say that's what everyone's opinion is starting out, the truth is that you'll sound shit at first and grow better with time. i've been at this for 5 years, trust me. you're on the right track for improvement, i'd say, though it wouldn't hurt to join a major and write something a bit fuller and more complex. i see a ton of botbrs doing only majors, but i think you have the opposite situation, which i honestly haven't seen before.
there's nothing to fear when submitting to a major except maybe a bad score. even then, it's not like THAT's your permanent score forever. people improve, and i'm sure you will too.

Quite alot's happened since my last battle (not including the entry I just submitted for Future Battles III while writing this), so there is some possibility that I might be able to make a breakout in my next musical attempt.

that's the spirit! always keep at it and enjoy it along the way. music isn't just some media type; it's a hobby, a profession, and a passion. listening to your stuff reminds me of a few botbrs early on in their music career, and they went on to make amazing stuff so i'm certain with time you'll be awesome enough to win ohbs on the regular - maybe even a major!
