in the middle of their quest, the hero has traveled upstream to the confluence of the Sencorus, a massive braided river surrounded by mountains. the hero knows they must travel up further, into the mountains themselves, to retrieve the orb of yendor. however, the river is fed by nearly every mountain in the range. it'd take months of arduous travel to search them all, and by then the commonwealth would have collapsed, so the hero seeks the counsel of the river oracle to point them on their way. these riverbars are not a light jaunt, though...
