may have gotten carried away on this one lol... had too much fun, made whole song (also spent an hour on sample manipulation and instruments and wanted to justify that by using most of them by the end). sample snipping inspired by some of the more idiosyncratic .it sampling homies

advent diary day 9:
i did my best to forget the schedule after we made the schedule, so i could be as surprised as possible still. this is the first day though where i really went "woah yeah this wasn't what i remembered". pleasantly surprised i got to spend my afternoon/evening on an .it module :D i love .it modules

I really enjoy the drum work. Bubbly filters and warblings of the melody sit well on top of the glitchy drums. The gradual build-up is well-paced and the overall form is satisfying. Impressed by the sound design of the distorted electric guitar sound in the middle section. The mixing is great, it almost sounds like you're using reverb even though you aren't, I think maybe just because of the good mixing (panning, volume.)

Wow there is so much cool sounds here, I don't know how most of these were made but I think the time you spent on samples and instruments was worth it!
Especially, I love these sounds that starts 1:16 and make the melody, the atmosphere here is so good :D

The panning work with the percussion particularly had a satisfying effect listening to this in headphones. I like the range this covers for me, from thoughtful-but-lighthearted to a bit atmospheric and vaguely dark, but all observed through a lens that is fogged and frosted at the edges. I don't know if this visual makes any sense, but this would be a good candidate for those Auditory Imagery battles, I think!
