This seems to be mostly pitch variations. I've gotten away with more than just pitch variations on OHC tracks.

My favourite songs are usually ones that include certain sounds, such as notes and rhythms, perhaps melodies...chords even.
Only possible exception is John Cage's 4'33". That's the jam.
