feedback!

I like that it tells a little story! one hour is such a short amount of time to basically learn a new software and make a track. I think the pulse leads kind of phasing back and forth is a good sound, kinda swirls around you!

My main critique would be - you start out in what appears to be common time, but then there's like an extra two and a half beats that sneak in after that first C-F, C-E phrase - which kinda throws things off. Which is an interesting vibe, honestly, but I think you'd need to lean further into that awkwardness to really impress on the listener that THIS is where the song is taking you, you know? but then you get the white noise crash and that long bass note break - and then kind of abruptly get tossed back into that weird meter - I'm counting like 18.5 beats to a measure?? 😱 so it's sort of like I never get a chance to settle into the groove long enough to see it go anywhere!

it's super tough to get to a point where you're doing ohb entries that actually sound like a complete piece, imo, I struggle with it every time a lot of the time don't even come close. That's the struggle!

Only other bit of advice if you're looking to do more with the NSF format - don't forget to utilize the DPCM channel! in
NSF classic format you don't get to use samples, but in regular
NSF (and
NSF plus you do!

it can really add variety to the sounds on offer, as well as save you some time making custom instrument / drum sounds. You can import and convert .wav files from inside Famitracker itself, obviously the limitation of the hardware makes the result sound real crunchy, but you learn to roll with that over time.

keep it up! do more battles! try recreating songs using famitracker, to really force yourself to get familiar with all the weirdness!
