It always amazes me that people can get such crazy sounds out of basic MSGS MIDI.
amusingly, at the age of 32 i can do 8x4 beats per phrase, but obviously i didn't want to just do straight common time, so i did four instances of (4/4 + 4/16). which, because i emphasized the separation and the beats of the /16 bar, gives it some clear distinction from 5/4. it is in the key of H! otherwise known as German B natural.
anyway, i haven't gotten tired of exploring IDM textures in this format yet, so you get more SFX Kit blips and blops, sinewaves and pads :D this tune is pretty similar to how i tackled this Winter Chip entry last year

advent diary day 4:
you know me, i love midi and making midis, it's very fun to explore what sorts of sounds you can accomplish with different permutations of piano roll data like chops, stretches, changes in vel/vol/pan/pitch etc.
had very much fun with every format so far, which surely must mean awful things are coming, right? ;D
