the last word shifted this one from good to excellent for me.

normally we think of ourselves as subjects of ageing - we grow - but by personifying time itself as having a 'will' we become the object, acted upon. time has its own plans; we don't shed our innocence, it is taken from us. the tone goes from nostalgic to menacing. great stuff!
