  roz liēkd this
trivia: this is an allegory about my last job. fuck that place.

also, here is the alternate version I wrote, in meter, which I probably should have submitted instead:

Once upon a time
I found a little thing
With claws kept sheathed
And two proud eyes
I bought it home again

Then we two grew
As two things do
And groaned from growing pains
It'd hurt me once
By seasons' end
Then scratched me up again

It wasn't worth the trouble
I knew what I deserved
I came back from vacation
And I kicked it to the curb

But it's there lurking in the trees
Can't help my glancing through the wood
To try and catch a glimpse again
Wish it got lost for good
