that's a real good character moment.
If someone asks me "How are you?" ... I'll just respond "Still pickin' away at the scab of life."
I feel like I know a girl who would absolutely do this, and she'd do it even if she wasn't really sure if other people 'got it' or if it was 'funny' or not, she'd just commit to it and for the next few months any time we went anywhere together I'd hear her bust it out.
Your story ends and I am left genuinely wanting to read more - I guess you're doing your job just fine!
