Golf, but on the TIC-80. That's the game.

Inspired by games like Mario Golf, this is a short 16-hole golf game that I've cooked up over the past month. I worked on it every day, making progress little by little.

I had a lot of fun programming this, so I hope you have fun playing it. Hopefully it's not too broken :)

yooo this is super fun! i love golf games... and i had a lot of fun with this! nothing stuck out as broken or anything - it felt pretty forgiving to not be on the fairway but the obstacles still functioned well. the only thing that strikes me as odd is that the counter goes up from 0, so if you sink it in 4 shots on a par 4, you receive a birdie instead of a par. it always scores you 1 less than your actual score. it's in the player's favor :o) but it confused me at first until i figured out that's what was going on

my final score was, uh, +40 because i had three really, really bad OB holes (6, 9, 11) :fearful:

Hole 11 is a hard one for sure. Wonder if I should have made it a lil easier...

A million points (or a negative million points, because it's golf?) just for that killer title tune. I hope you are proud of your creation.

Made a small update for the game. Here are the changes:

Update 12/3/2023:
-Fixed colorkey for the flag
-Increased par for holes 9 and 11 to 8
-Holes start at stroke 1 instead of 0

Play or download the cart from the game's page on the site for the updated version!

I liked the map that had BotB-shaped islands (think it was hole 11). A bit tougher for sure, but eventually beatable.

Music gives me a "this is a remake of a retro classic" type of feel.

This game must've been time consuming to create. Major props!

Some aspects of the interface were a little unclear -- although the red spot that appeared before each stroke was helpful for choosing direction, it wasn't clear what combination of power/height settings would be expected to put the ball near that spot. Overall, I was unsure what the significance of the height setting was.

This is a really impressive technical achievement overall, though! Felt polished and well-constructed throughout.
