A high-stakes snowball fight anime NES cutscene. Although the entry is just this animation, it was designed to accompany Standoff at Icy Point which I wrote in collab with mioh. Contains nods to a few favorite old school game cutscenes (Ninja Gaiden, Flashback, TMNT, X-Com UFO Defense.)
If you want to hear it synced as intended, the animation should start right after the audio starts. For reference, the sweep towards the beginning should go along with a gust of wind.
Synced up version on YouTube for convenience so you can see what I was going for.
Drawn in Pixaki, sequenced+edited in Aseprite. 1745 frames in the NES palette at 180x120, optimized and scaled up. I wanted to see how much animation I could fit into the 2.5MB limit. Getting the speed to sync up was horrible, Pixaki and Aseprite and the OS all treated speeds differently and I kept having to make changes at each stage to get it as close as possible.

In grade school, my best friend and I had an elaborate plan to carry out a snowball ambush on a school bully. It involved setting up a snow fort and pre-made snowball piles strategically placed outside school grounds, and then unleashing our assault when he was on the walk home. We did all the prep work but never actually carried out the plan!
