glad you gave the snes a try! if you really struggle with c700 there's always snesmod, people do make plenty serviceable stuff with it even though it's got some quirks! i've written a guide to both
My "to do" list included "something new". As I love the SPC700 soundchip, I decided to try my first SNES entry... oh man, I was there for a surprise. I spent about two weeks just setting up the C700 and deciphering how to use a DAW (which I had never ever used in my life). Long story short, I couldn't complete it in time.
Weeeell, Mario Paint counts as SNES, doesn't it? xD. Though I could say I could complete an SNES entry, that doesn't count as "something new", since I already have a few entries in the Mario Paint format.
Anyway, defeated by the SPC700, I took inspiration from music that evoked the feeling of reaching for a star; an SNES star, to be precise. And then, I started to place stars in Mario Paint's music score. The result was music that speaks about a promise to, someday, achieve my first real SNES entry.
