i think you've now made my 1st and 2nd place favorite mt32 songs i've ever heard... this is amazing. some of these sound like they have the effect of a filter resonance knob being turned, but it doesn't look like the patch is changing in munt (unless they are all named the same thing lol, the patch names show up :D), so is that part of the patch tweaking process too?

Eeee Thank you! Wow, that makes me happy.

The filter cutoff is being automated in a slightly hacky way— It is possible to give velocity influence over several different parameters for each partial within a timbre. So my approach has just been to assign it to the filter and a slight bit to the pulse width usually, while giving it no influence over loudness. Then using expression to automate the loudness instead.

If you are interested to explore some editing, SoundDiver has a really nice panel for the mt-32, it can be found pretty easily.

Nice to hear something unique from the MT-32. It doesn't even sound like an MT-32, but it is!

I might have to take a gander at this SoundDiver. Nice work! :D

Thanks!! That has been a bit of a mission, to make it do things which are impossible with the stock patches. It's a relatively full-featured subtractive synthesizer below the surface.

Give it a try! :-D I've spent a while sorting it out, so feel free to pick my brain if you like. Will add a guide for it to the lyceum at some point.
