Sounds like a shop theme that would be in Chrono Trigger. Especially for the post-apocalyptic 2300 AD time period. Also, loved the rubato!

Almost has a music box quality. I could see this picking up where it leaves off with a string section coming in and then a full orchestra.

I love these mood pieces. You can imagine so many scenarios because everyone experiences and interprets emotions and music differently.
Before even reading the description, this is what I imagined:

The world is thrust into eternal night, plagued by an everlasting darkness. Yet, there stands a small, but humble shop.
The mediocre wares are not appealing, but the kind smile of a naïve young girl who has yet to lose hope fills you with a brief sense of reprieve from your apprehension.
