Instead of manually inputting notes, generative music is made by designing an algorithm/patch that semi-randomly/procedurally generates music or visuals (or both at the same time). You can shape the output by changing the algorithm/patch.
Make some music with your $10k eurorack modular synth in your basement, VCV rack, pure data, orca or anything else. Hell, make a recording of your washing machine, that's pretty generative!!!
you can also make an algorithm that creates images, textures, 3D models based on some cool perlin noise or something. (Visual synths are also cool, if anyone got one of those)
Heck, make a procedurally generated game!
Not quite sure, but categories could be something like:
- design
- procedural
- shapely
- textured
- generator in pants
The Battle could also reward signalist points, but maybe mixist points are sufficient.
I'm still quite new here, not sure how any of this works.
It might be hard to confirm, if the submissions are actually generative, so maybe a picture or source code could be a requirement? Generally, I would trust people with this though.
