Ethereal Containment

Though I have been using FamiTracker for eight years, this is the first time I adventure myself into the N163 expansion.

“Ethereal Containment” can be interpreted in two ways:
- Though the song wants to be intense, it contains itself to become ethereal, right into the spirit of trance music.
- The song tries to contain itself, but such containment becomes ethereal, and it ends up being intense (which, paradoxically, is also part of the spirit of trance music).

2A03 + 6xN163. Made and exported with Dn-FamiTracker 0.4.0.1. Rendered with NSFPlay 2.6.

I still can’t fully understand the little details about N163. Many times, the waves I used ended up being replaced by others, without any apparent reason. Sometimes I fixed it as well as I could, but many others it ended up sounding better than how it was originally intended, so I left it that way.

wave replacing has to do with the limited waveform memory of the n163, you need to make sure the waveforms of simultaneous instruments are stored at different memory locations, by changing the "wave position" in the instrument. In Dn-famitracker you can more easily visualize what is happening with the waveforms with View->Register State.

anyway, epic song! I like how it takes its time, really helps you get into the groove. lots of cool sounds from the n163

I really dig that arping instrument. Nice work here, even if you had some unexpected outcomes! I had a similar experience with managing memory overlaps.

The high pitch arps along with acid like bass makes for a really strong combo. I like how interesting this entry was. The mysterious feeling here and the contamination type of trance. Overall was really solid!
