would be a cool and fitting multi format major indeed : )
So I've had the idea for this battle for a while, and I've been listening to a lot of DOS game music mixes on YouTube during work, so here's a suggestion for a battle about DOS tunes! I'm not fully sure what the guideline was for suggesting multiple formats for a single Future Battles entry, but I figured it's worth a shot anyway.
The general theme of the battle would be to make music for an imaginary DOS game, or to capture the feel of one that already exists. Your entry description should be used to make up some details for the track's context in said game, but this wouldn't be required. It'd just be more fun :P
Rather than list the actual third-party sound hardware that supported DOS on the art, I felt it'd be more appropriate to list my suggestions for BotB formats to be used. s3xmodit, MT-32, MIDI, and AdLib are pretty straightforward format suggestions, but PC speaker is not an official format. But hey, this is a suggestion for something that could appear in a future battle, and there's already a PC speaker major suggested, so maybe it could be a possibility? Consider it my own push for PC speaker to be a format, lol.
Also to keep the format selection small and to have the battle focus on DOS as a software platform, I omitted computer lines with DOS + built-in soundchips such as the PCjr/Tandy 1000 (SN76489/SN76496) and the NEC PC-x801 series (YM2203/YM2608).
If anyone more knowledgeable than I am about DOS has any suggestions for voting categories or the battle itself, please share!
