Sounds like fun, maybe I'll have time to participate this time since spring break starts soon.

EDIT: Okay well that sure didn't happen...

I'm assuming the game rom has taken a long development time and therefore, the latest version of FT may not actually be the version that the game uses.

So....what version(s) is valid?

I didn't see it listed anywhere specifically, but I'm guessing 2A03 only!

Can someone confirm?

Savestate: that'd be a yes, buckeroo. if you want to use DPCM, just make it small and use repeats. see n0de-claw for inspiration "https://zan-zan-zawa-veia.bandcamp.com/album/n0de-claw"

worst case scenario is that if you submit a song and are not considerate of guidelines, then it won't be able to be used.

Nice! I've always wanted to get some of my music in a NES game. I'll see if I can get something in.

YES - super honored to have a BotB battle for the game!

Yep! b00daw is spot on - 2A03 only / 24K limit is so I can keep my bankswitching in order - (I have a modified version of famitracker to export to my mapper with 8K DPCM / pattern bankswitching but would prefer straightforward way to drop in music!)

As far as plans - going to have an "NSF saloon" with the extra tracks - I have a prototype player piano as a visual effect (rolling music sheet with sq1/sq2/triangle note data represented as punch hole sprites).
Artist / song title / url / message will be on the screen of course!

It's still in the air (meaning I haven't cut the check) but there is a vinyl in the works with an awesome company local to me - there is a pretty great gimmick taking up an entire side but I'm going to ask the engineer about how many tracks we can fit.

The in-game music player with visualizations for the different channels is a really neat idea!

I'm going to fold on this one for now. There are three reasons for me to not making an entry at this time:
1. The triangle wave seems to be handled more poorly at higher pitches when compared to IT2NSF (my Mysterious Song cover was severely affected when I got the wise-cracking idea to port that over to Famitracker since it used a triangle wave with that kind of pitch, and I have a version made with IT2NSF where the problem doesn't seem so severe, but I still don't fully trust it)... well, maybe I'm not fully sure on this one, but it seems like the pitch results don't match.
2. I don't think there's a DPCM pitch envelope feature, unlike IT2NSF's feature (actually handled via the "duty" feature). I like using DPCM pitch envelopes because I can pull off a mean kick with them for cheap memory, and since there's a 24KB memory limit, then that pitch envelope would be greatly beneficial here to save on both pattern memory and DPCM memory in general. I actually have a beta of an entry intended for this very compo that uses this feature.
3. Platform incompatibility with the tracker itself. I'm not interested in using emulation or bringing out my Windows laptop to circumnavigate this part.
