If you're a fan of a particular Signalist format, sharing relevant resources / tutorials / examples / tips in the battle comments is encouraged!

To start: I ran four SunVox battles last year whose bitpacks included brief introductions to key aspects of the program.

note for ppl in advance. during the bytebeat rounds i'll likely make a "resources + qna" thread (once. not twice lol) where ppl will be able to ask questions and/or share info and the first post will be edited accordingly (so that they don't have to scroll through many battle comments or discord messages lol)!
also may give some bytebeat tutoring in botb chat as well :3

To SunVox or not to SunVox, that is the question.
A tiny part of me wants to revisit this odd little gem.

@Strobe: the answer is "to SunVox"

@SRB2er: If you're willing to try Pure Data, I think you can probably handle VCV as well.

there's a 5/7 chance neither of the bytebeat formats will show up in round 6, which will be the 4 days i'll have the least amount of time to work on an entry on, judging by my work schedule.. fingers crossed

I love sunvox. I wish I had infinite time to spend just designing cool synth patches in sunvox. I need like a little clone guy who can do this specifically

I don't have any advice to share about VCV Rack (please chime in if you do!) However, I'll take this opportunity to share one of my all-time favorite MIT Mystery Hunt puzzles
.

(Unfortunately, it looks like the last step of the puzzle isn't possible anymore, as it requires a module that's no longer available online. But the first part is still interesting!)

I don't know how useful it is to just post tips, since I don't know what people actually need. But this could be a place for answering urgent questions.

Anyway, my two cents is a tip for using chromatic tones in voltage sequencers. In VCV Rack, CV control uses the one volt per one octave standard. Voltage grows linearly with pitch (logarithmically with frequency). This means that a single semitone is equivalent to a difference of 1/12V. Middle C is equivalent to 0V, and the voltage of each pitch in volts is its distance from middle C in semitones divided by 12. You can use the same principle to transpose pitches by adding signals.

I found this tutorial for using Orca+Pilot which has been helping me refresh my memory on how it all works:
