For 18 years I have been co-organizing a weirdo Christmas (and other December holidays) compilation. In the past number of years BotBrs have started participating. Usually it's a curated, invite only thing, but this year we just opened the dang flood gates and let literally anyone in! (I posted about it, it coulda been you!!)

Anyway, the newest one has released today and contains many varied types of music, including tracks from some of our own!
Next year I'm going to make it open submission again, so start thinkin' about what holiday song(s) you might wanna mess with and how!

In the meantime though, take a gander at what we done why don't ya:

CHRISTMASASAURUS UNLEASHED!

31 tracks! Dunno if you were trying to break a record there, but this open invitation approach seems to have helped. Even though there are 31 of them, most are short. So it's easy to listen to them all the way through in one sitting.

DoricDream's take on Jingle Bells is fun. But everything else is also worth the listen; be it for their wacky or festive nature. Or both! Also, glad I didn't do a Peanuts thing as initially planned, since akafaë went for it. But it's nice to have both the familiar and the unfamiliar here, either way. As for me, I'm looking forward to cover more unlikely to be covered songs in future installments.

Thanks for making this happen! I hope this project has been reciprocating back to you in some way.

cheesy though it may be, I'm happy above all else that anyone wants to participate or listen. It's nice when we can donate to charity and it blows my mind when people tell me they listen to them every year and it's kinda fun that my phone blows up for a day or two when they come out, but the reward for the effort is me selfishly having a new, completely unhinged Christmas album to listen to every year and to see what people come up with.

Part of the fun also is the overlap of ideas and different takes on the same songs. As I got better at my part of organizing I kept a running list of songs people were gonna do so we wouldn't get doubles when it was invite-only, but the first five installments all have double and even triple songs, so it's genuinely fun to see that come back into the fold.
