It's a common problem and until it's resolved (never?) the best advice is to avoid "weird"/nonstandard characters in file names (let alone UTF-exclusive ones). It was the case with commas, semicolons and such, but i've never seen a period being the culprit... Probably because the name starts with it tho.

in firefox if you just right click the download link and opt for 'save link as' it lets you save it. If it still give you problems then i guess you can save it as something renamed.

This problem also exists for an entry with dots at the end of the filename. Such as this one.
