is there a utility you can drag a midi on to and it'll take the loudest note in the tune and make it max volume, then proportionally and appropriately raise the volume of all the other notes? like a midi amplifier basically

Hm, I would suggest Caustic 3 or Sunvox for on the go music making, they are both for Android and IOS so you can take them wherever you go, and they are both very capable :)

Edit: speaking of caustic i have a question about the "bytebeat" category. Are you allowed to use more than one synth in your song for it or just one? Caustic has a bytebeat synth with 2 program slots, can I use both programs or just one?

Sorry if I look like a noob with this question, but this is my first time voting on Spring Tracks.

As opposed to Winter Chip, where voting categories meant something for me, I'm having a hard time deciding what to evaluate on each category. I know, voting categories are open for interpretation; but, man, I couldn't even find what "pervernality" means after googling it (I just got results from... yes, BotB).

I've been hearing entries from past Spring Tracks, but I'm still mystified.

1st cat: how emotionally charged is the song? does it make you feel things?
2nd cat: how technically impressive is the song? to what degree does it utilize the specific strengths of its format?
3rd cat: how cool is the song? how blown away are you when listening to it? would you be likely to show it to your friends?
4th cat: how much do you like the song? is it something you would find yourself listening to by choice?
5th cat: did you shit yourself or what

outside of that i generally align the overall rating with 4th cat and increase or decrease specific categories based on how well it does at those categories
