Game Boy Color

The Game Boy Color is the follow-up handheld game console to Nintendo's successful Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket, and Game Boy Light (which was exclusively released in Japan). The Game Boy Color was released on November 18, 1998. The new version included a smaller case and a color screen, but retained the 160x144 pixels screen size. The console had a palette of 32,768 colors and could display 56 colors simultaneously. It could also add four color shading to the original Game Boy games. The Z80 processor workalike made by Sharp, it is the same one used by the original Game Boy, but had a clock speed of 8 MHz, twice as fast as the original GB. The GBC also had four times as much memory and an infrared communications port.
