The Game Boy Color is the follow up to Nintendo’s successful '[[Game Boy], '[[Pocket Game Boy], and '[[Game Boy Light] (Japan). The Game Boy Color was released in November 19, 1998. The new version included a smaller case and a color screen, but retained the 160x144 pixels screen size. The console had a palette of 32,768 colors and could display 56 colors simultaneously. It could also add four color shading to the original Game Boy games. The '[[Z80] processor workalike made by Sharp, it is the same one used by the original '[[Game Boy], but had a clock speed of 8 MHz, twice as fast as the original '[[GB]. The GBC also had four times as much memory and an infrared communications port.
