31edo; pianoteq + chipsynth C64 (x5)

---

advent diary day 1:
allgear! i hope everyone's been excited to kick things off with a popular format. i came up with the tune idea quickly but it took me a long time to land on what to do with it, including an attempted+abandoned "make the lead silly" plan that didn't feel tonally fitting to this balladic, sweet carol tune. so i wound up doing microtones for the twist, and taking this opportunity to test out chipsynth C64, which i just got for black friday.

release the silly lead version, compadre

I think my favorite bit is where it ends up around 2 minutes in - like that little trill at 2:08

Tuning the family piano to 31 edo for the holidays, as we always do!

In this case the microtonality give the effect of playing out a memory on a projector in scratchy, sepia color tones

Very carollike, and the tonality makes it quite fresh and engaging for the ears
