I've actually never heard the module file you're referencing, though Pat Metheny I'm fairly familiar with.
Anyway, some liner notes since I feel like it right now...
I think the hardest part of optimizing this was the cymbal crescendo. I wanted to keep the high end intact without sacrificing a ton of module space. I actually ended up finding such a good balance of sample quality that I ended up adding the choir sample last, and I believe it's the only sample not taken from my backlog of sounds I've recorded from synthesizers I own. I think it added a missing element that really enhances the entire module, as it was completely absent in early versions. The cymbal still takes up over 50% of the module uncompressed, but it was worth it.
I would like to thank fellow botbr luna197 for sharing her row delay pseudo-reverb technique in the #battle_of_the_bits chat on discord randomly, it has inspired me to include it in modules varying forms as often as I possibly can. I also would like to thank damifortune for being an inspiration to get outside my comfort zone. I usually don't like to do tinymodules but I think that sense of adventure they have has started to rub off on me a bit.
