trying to make dub techno with elektron syntakt attempt number x

i completed this 2 weeks ago i think but the recording process went wrong and i was too frustrated so i decided to cut my losses and move on. but here we are... this battle gets magically extended for another week again and i don't notice lol. not really enough time to make a new thing so here it is.

the mood is absolutely perfect here as is the bass

the only thing i noticed (and this is going to be only a slight thing) is the last 2 notes of the bass phrase seem to be oddly muddy, i'm not sure if it's clashing with something else for that bass space there or what

i tried on different headphones but i couldn't hear it myself, not saying that it couldn't be there i don't have trained ears and have a poor mixing track record so it's definitely possible that there is some more overly muddy parts. i tried to use the syntakt digital bandpass filters on many of the tracks to control the bass region as best as i could. with a track with as much low-end as this i imagine i could make an miscall there for sure heh. could be that the kick frequencies collide with it or that the main chord track collides with it since that filter was modulated with an lfo throughout it. i'm not sure.

it's kinda funny how loud the bass is on my sony xm3s heh though that's not really a "home listening" type of headphone. i have the hd 560s, i don't know if that's any help but it's particularly flat which likely means i probably overcompensate on the bass a little too much. i'll try to look out for that and compare some mixes of similar music to get a better idea.

Not a style I typically seek out, so cool getting a feel for it. I'm a sucker for e-piano stabs, so really like they *just* make it in there without being overbearing. One of those tracks you can just listen to on loop and kinda get stuff done to. Maybe a more noticeable counterpoint section would help, but overall and cool vamping jam!
