Some years ago I covered let's sync by coda (a cover I haven't released anywhere) in MIDI with my Roland SC-88VL, because I thought it would be a fun challenge and see how authentic it can be to the original considering the limits and how new ideas true to the original can appear.
And now finally in the time of 2 days it happened again, this time just for the sake of this battle. Which song of coda did I cover this time? sipener! one of many catchy OHB tunes coda have made, and one that I find extra catchy and that's not too difficult to cover.
The SC-55 has so low polyphony :*-) and I also had some trouble with Domino, because I started in a controversal way to the hardware-purist spirits by starting out on my SC-88VL with my usual settings, which would result in some more troubles later. Apparently, the Sound Source Definition for the SC-88Pro (that I normally use since it works outa the box for me and my needs) exports some GS parameters as hidden early-build GM2 CCs supported by the SC-88 units, which don't work on the SC-55. Luckily, it was just a quick change in a .xml-file and then the song started to sound like intended on the SC-55.
Play with the SC-55mkII, as that is the target I used. Older SC-55 version may drop out voices or wont have newer GS instruments that I may have used.
