i'm especially enthralled with how well this one uses the stereo setup. a very engaging listen throughout.. lots of cool percussive texture and rhythmic intrigue
apologies in advance for descriptioncore. musiclife storytime;
ive had a bit of a terse relationship with music making since late 2021. mainly due to not being able to compose in the way that i used to due to time constraints, and i havent been completely happy with the outcomes of most stuff because of that. this time around i worked on this track in a different kind of way organisationally (yay spreadsheets), which has worked well in this case, to be able to receive the satisfaction that comes from doing something a little bit more high effort. i havent been able to replicate this way of working much this year due to falling in a pure data rabbit hole, but in the end dont mind that outcome.
working on this made me start to realise how much sound design potential there is in 2xpokey. i would like to see more people try it and 'blow the covers off' so to speak. theres a uniqueness to be had in instruments that affect the sound of other instruments. i feel like this interaction does not show up much in other chips (ringmod in sid is a good example but i just cant figure sid's quirks out to like the chip).
thanks goes out to Vinscool for the continued development of raster music tracker. it cant have been an easy codebase to take on, with it being so old.
and as per the last couple of saps done, this initially started its life in pixitracker. i had a previous wip of this from about a year or so ago but only one pattern survived the cut.
answers on a postcard why the bass distortion "E" doesnt like being bent in pitch lol. anyway it helped me out.
