You could get more mileage out of drums by keeping a few fm instruments specifically for drum patches in your template.

If you don't wanna sacrifice the custom patch, you could do things like patch2 A-3 2FF for bassdrum, patch6 A-3 A0A 280 for snaredrum, patch1 G#7 A0F for hihat (or patch6). Stuff like that.

or just find some SUPER LOUD dpcm samples to use instead

i didn't notice that the mixer in vanilla fami had been messed with, so i thought triangle/noise/dpcm would be way louder. and yeah i wrote a noise track cuz i somehow convinced myself there was 4 channel limit in this ohb instead of 3 and cut it out at the last second. this was not a successful outing for me. ty for the advice and i will prob harvest those samples :3
