Experimenting with cyber/techno/goa-inspired sounds, to see if the mt-32 could pull it off. Captured from hardware.

All the instrument timbres and many of the drum timbres are original— getting into the editing & sound design of this instrument, I'm continuously impressed at what it is capable of and look forward to going deeper. :-)

The first 3 bars/~5 seconds contain sysex data in the midi file, device state is reset at the beginning and end of playback.

this is insane, impressive, and insanely impressive. playing with the partial timbres is no doubt a fruitful endeavor

Thank you! The initial learning curve to understand the architecture and find a suitable editor was challenging, but modifying sounds is pretty intuitive; just scratching the surface of what is possible so far

I think this might be the first time I rate a different number in each category. Either way, a standout in the format, quite interesting.

Nice!

There's the black-MIDI craziness with MSGS to achieve sounds that are not possible the traditional way - with hardware, black-MIDI is often too much data for the interface and the buffers. What's the limitbreaker then? well, see what you can abuse out of the synth-engine's configuratbility with a bigger choice of CCs, RPs but also NRPs and sysex messages!

Good job

Thanks!
Totally, the format is ripe for this I think; compared to GS and even XG, the MT-32 has greater potential for advanced sound design, due to the synthesized waveforms, 13 partial layer structures + ability to assign any timbre to the drum map.

MUNT can be edited, but unfortunately doesn't send sysex back out, so you can't do patch / param request from it, only send data to it, definitely still usable this way, just less convenient.

Been considering making a video on editing workflow, if there is interest.
