For this entry I challenged myself to write the melody first, then chords, bass, and drums -- the reverse order of how I usually work. It was tough but good practice I think!

it's a very different process writing melody-first - perhaps unsurprisingly it can lead to a much more memorable and expressive melody (not that you can't get that the other way too), but it's cool how it also winds up informing the rest of your arrangement decisions too. like, i hear your harmonic sense in here still as ever, but there's an extra level of detail in the fact that it's trying to creatively underscore something already there.
