i still have like 5k left w/o doing any invasive optimizations. i would have liked to improve the 2nd half, but i feel like i'm out of ideas. i've also been sitting on this for well over a month, so maybe it's time to let it go and focus on some other things. i've learned a lot and it's been a nice challenge. thank you booblegumz for the 64k entry which was the initial inspiration behind this

this module abuses clipping on master and expects linear interpolation + filters support. it seems like there's a plethora of players for impulse tracker modules, and they don't even get volume consistent across each other (even across different drivers in original impulse tracker!). hence, playback guide, sorted from most to least recommended options i've tried:
- openmpt - OK, this is what i used for authoring the module. use linear interp + 44.1kHz sample rate + default ramping. /!\ don't normalize on render /!\
- schism - OK, same as above
- it2.14 or it2play with mmx accelerated versions of drivers such as "soundblaster 16 w/ mmx" or vsound - OK, but you'll need to reduce mixing volume to around 72 or you'll get a sausage waveform (it's not some exact value, but something that seemed to sound "good enough" combined with different ramping of the drivers). other drivers without filter support are a no-go
- it2play w/ "hq" driver - good volume, but forced windowed sinc...
- it2play w/ "it2.15 wav writer" driver - good volume, but with overly long, transient destroying ramping... no thanks
- xmplay - don't use. theoretically ok playback, but volume is far too low to ever clip on master
