Yeah, I definitely recommend checking out some Neo-Geo soundtracks, which use a slightly more restrictive version of the chip (4 FM channels instead of 6). Despite the reduced FM capacity, the PCM channels let them make some great grooves and feature a lot of "real" instruments, often with that crunchy 16-bit sound. Especially if you use a breakbeat loop or something to cover the drums, then you have a ton of space to work with other samples, though only one channel can pitch correct, so for anything chromatic you'd have to bounce a shitload of the same instrument lol (A M 4 N has a few great tracks like this).
