Advent Diary Day 11:
last year i restricted myself to the Sample Pack Contest X (SPCXmas!) samples for the allgear day, but this year i wanted to wrangle with SampleTank strings and percussion and really dial the schmaltz up to 11. it's really unwieldy to use and sometimes i questioned why i wasn't just using SNES strings instead, but the solo violin makes it worth it, i think : )

i tried to conceive of this as like, an arrangement of an old standard that didn't exist, so i started with (and focused on) a really clear vocal-type lyrical melody. the title actually lines up with the first melodic phrase, although i didn't write any more lyrics than that; maybe if i had a week i'd write and record a choir section too, but this took long enough as it is!
