Very well written and very interesting. I had no idea there was a computer that catered to visual novels specifically!

TL:DR: Make a song that sounds like it would be in an adult/eroge dating sim or regular VN
Long Version:
The VN-9800 series (Japanese: VN-9800シリーズ) commonly shortened to VN-98, is a lineup of Japanese 16-bit and 32-bit personal computers manufactured by NEC from 1982 to 2000.
The platform established NEC's dominance in the Japanese personal computer market, specificially for it's marketing towards the visual novel market of video games, and, by 1999, more than 8.2 million units had been sold.
The VN-98's brother (the PC-98) was initially released as a business-oriented personal computer which had backward compatibility with the successful PC-8800 series. One thing though that became noticed by NEC was the big demographic of video game players that have migrated over to the PC-98 from the consoles of the time. The newer graphic systems and improved YM2608 sound chip made it a prime choice for some stellar soundtracks and games.
However, the PC-98 suffered a slight bit in the video game department, as the higher display resolution and higher storage capacity did allow better graphics, but also suffered from massive slowdowns. This, however, caused a huge rise in adult dating sims and visual novels. The PC-98 started a renaissance of some sorts for adult dating sims and visual novels. Some examples include classics such as Dōkyūsei and YU-NO.
In order to capitalize on this market, the VN-98 was born! A slightly cheaper VN-98 (¥208,000 vs the PC-98's ¥298,000), but catered specificially for VNs and Dating Sims. Confused at first, the public did not reach much into it upon launch, but after hearing favored reviews and the cheaper launch, it was not a shock to see the sales start to rise up.
While not being sold in stores anymore, it's no surprise to also see that the VN-98 has gained a bit of a cult following in the past recent years, as nostalgia and retro gaming has taken the world by storm. Not only that, but the YM2608 sound chip has grown a lot in popularity too as FM Syntheis becomes more and more popular within the public eye.
If you ever see one out in the wild, give it a try and I'm sure you'll be blown away by the game selections and the sound too!
